We ended the year of 2011 with a high tea party with friends. Different flavors of tea kept the conversation high with laughs. Sweet and savory dessert pumped us up to appreciate good talk, good friends, and good food.

Chloe-rella Cake
Happy Birthday Chloe-rella!
Mom loved our strawberry shortcake that we baked a month ago and it inspired us with the pumpkin patch theme since it was October and harvest season. Chloe had a costume birthday party and she wore a pink butterfly costume. We created a pumpkin coach made from brownie wrapped with fondant and personalized with Chloe’s first initial “C” attached to the door. We used a new gelatin technique to create the butterfly’s wings.
The flavors included chocolate, strawberry, and blueberry cakes with chocolate ganache.

Antique Book Cake
We created Antique Book Cake for Trinity Legacy of Learning Event. The event was open to everyone and provided a huge array of incredible silent auction items with a variety of price ranges. The top book was a strawberry cake and the bottom was a chocolate cake. We used dark green color to match the Irish theme and the top book had a pot of gold on the cover. Everything was edible. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

“Buche De Noel” Birthday and Christmas Cake for Nathalia
I am a chocolate person and I remember when I was younger, I was amazed that our family got a Buche De Noel cake from a relative as Christmas present. I begged my mom not to cut it because it looked like a chopped off branch and finally when she cut it, I could not stop eating the tasty chocolate Genoise or most people know it as a rolled sponge cake.
This year, I wanted to bake a sophisticated style version of classic Buche De Noel for Nathalia’s birthday, mom of my goddaughter, Fransiska. And, I know Nathalia is a chocoholic. She always has chocolate in stock at their home. Chocolate and Espresso cakes with chocolate hazelnut buttercream became my selection. It was coated with fondant and decorated with edible winterberry sugar paste. I painted the fondant to make it look like a log with a bark-like texture.
